Before we start, make sure you check out June’s playlist. I’m really digging it. You can listen to it while you read, it makes both experiences better 🙂
Sometimes, nothing happens in a month. I choose the photos I like the most and I feel like nothing really happened. That’s not a bad thing per se, but I usually like movement. In all its ways.
Today, when I was looking at May’s photos to write this (late) monthly blog update, I noticed that I’ve done a lot of things.
The first day of the month I woke up near Valladolid, in a friend’s house, the day before we’ve been in Barcelona, and the previous day in Madrid. It seems like movement was tagging along with April already.
The place where I stayed was beautiful and charming. It was surrounded by beautiful flowers, as Spring had already settled. I grabbed some and prepared a cup of flower tea for breakfast. It was beautiful and delicious.
As soon as I got back home, I went straight to the studio and started doing pottery. That’s my grounding technique.
I love meditation, but whenever I travel for too long, I need more than one thing to balance the amount of movement.
It seems like pottery does the trick quite well, as does walking in nature. It’s funny how I balance excess movement with other types of movement. I believe stagnant energy is what makes me feel stuck.
Breakfast is what I probably miss the most when I’m not at home.
Breakfast with the kids I mean 🐈⬛
I love having breakfast outside but there’s a special spot in my heart for Galician mornings while I have breakfast surrounded by cats.
What can I say about the neighbours? I miss them too. Most people in this area are the nicest I’ve ever met. One of them has a daughter that doesn’t live here, but comes quite often. She brought me geese eggs in order to try them. Such a nice thing. They’re always gifting me food. What else can I ask for in life, right?
It surprised me to notice a hint of vanilla in the flavour of the yolk. I loved them. They are delicate and big enough. I say this because I always feel like one egg is never enough and two may be too much.
But what really made this month special was the gig at my home town.
Finally! We were able to play in Coruña. It was something we’ve been postponing for more than a year, because everything has been cancelled.
I can’t be happier. Even though the security distance between people was incredibly big, they were enjoying it like a “normal” gig. Not even the masks made them stop enjoying.
If anyone was at that gig at Teatro Colón and is now reading this…I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your presence there makes me want to keep doing what I do. Thank you so very much. 💙
I missed that feeling of playing live. It’s been only two performances in 2021 and I’m really craving that continuity that keeps me alive.
I also miss those dinners after a long day at work. Grabbing something in a place nearby and enjoying the company of those who come along.
This time we were incredibly lucky we didn’t have a curfew (not in the venue, in the city). I needed a nice dinner and I had one.
The place is called Lola&Cia and I’ve always loved their Yuca with Guac, but this time they also had these Corn Tequeños with cheese and after trying them I’m already in love. The sweetness of the corn made them very rich, which is something I need at 23:30 after more than 12 hours of work and playing drums like there’s no tomorrow.
I always check if we leave something in the backstage. It’s not that I don’t trust people, it’s just that I see quicker than others 😅 Ironically, I’m short-sighted.
You know the saying: Short-sighted, quick-viewer. NO? Ok, no. Bye! hahaha.
I love that feeling of an empty space after it’s been crowded with music and people. I always take comfort in enjoying one last minute of gratitude, feeling the energy of the place.
Apart from all that, last month I had to do some medical tests and everything turned out better than last year, so…I’m quite happy about that part of the month too.
I had to eat “weird” for me, no fibre for three days. It makes my life complicated. the first thing I had to remove was: vegetables, legumes and fruits…ok thanks for nothing!
On the bright side, I got to experiment and try other things, like this trout and egg sandwich. It was amazing. I’m glad I found my new “no-fibre” favourite.
The last two days of the month, I got to enjoy Barcelona one more time. I love the city. This time was even more special. I celebrated my health, the gig, and life.
Because if there’s something I love is enjoying life as it is. With its ups and downs. Because when you are grateful, even because of the difficult things, life tastes better.
Well, life always tastes better if you come along with me. 🤗 Have fun and keep fooding!
