September playlist 🎧 – New music, garden, pottery and food.
August came and went. It was a special month for me. I’ve been working in a very special project. It’s our new single! I’m so excited that people is liking it so much and being so kind to tell us. Here you have the video:
We had so much fun watching our baby videos. It was a beautiful project to work on.
Of course I waited until the release to add the song to the playlist, but also because even if I wanted to work in the blog, I didn’t really have the time for that.
The month started being extremely exhausting and still having to finish the album. You can’t imagine how crazy you become when you listen to your own songs so many times trying to find things to correct. Very crazy. Indeed.
But now, some weeks have passed and I can enjoy the songs as they are, because they are done and I feel incredibly grateful for that.
One thing that I didn’t sacrifice in spite of the bussyness was my pottery classes. I made a lot of progress on the wheel centering my clay.
But most importantly, I came home one day with a couple of finished pieces.
I’ve been using this bowl for my cacaos since then. I still have to learn a lot about pottery and that excites me so much that I already bought a small wheel the other day. I am so thrilled about the idea of practicing at home 🙂
How did you spend the month of August? You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, but just reflect on that yourself. I find it very pleasing thinking about what I’ve done with perspective.
It makes everything get together in the brain and helps you wrap up your intentions for a new month.
A wonderful person gifted me a caterpillar drawing. If you know me just a bit, you should know I’m very fond of caterpillars. Any animal, actually…but there’s something about caterpillars that fascinates me. She told me the name: Papilio machaon. Loving the beautiful butterfly it becomes. Still, I like the caterpillar more. But I appreciate the beauty of every living being in every stage of their lives.
I haven’t been eating quite what my body needs this month.
I had to sacrifice cooking time and most of the time I had to go for the easy/fast meal instead of the elaborate one. I was seriously overworking and now my body feels different.
But…I prioritised nourishing my body with mindful practices and routines, as well as making sure I ate a nutritious breakfast.
That way, I knew I would at least eat as my body needs once a day. Which is more than no times a day.
August was also Oliva’s fifteen birthday. We made a special dinner for her and the rest of the cats. The thing is, she doesn’t get on well with the rest of them, even after 9 years living together.
She got a bit pissed when Tomate tried to eat some of the food and the nice moment became a constant complaining that lasted half an hour sponsored by Oliva.
We call her “La quinceañera” now. That’s why we made a party for her. It’s a huge deal turning 15 when you are a cat, not only when you are human. She liked the ham the most. Tomate preferred the paté.
Yes, I am that crazy cat lady. It’s a good thing to be. I love cats. And caterpillars. Deal with it.
The garden kept giving me food, as well as the neighbours. I had all my hopes on these cherry tomatoes, but September came and frosts too.
80% of them are now useless, but that makes me learn for next year. I have to cover them even if I think the weather is fine.
On the other hand, there were tiny corn cobs and regular-sized corn cobs 🌽 Happy Sílvia likes corn cobs with black pepper!
Figs have started growing massive, but being so hot some of them get rotten before ripening. Wasps love that, by the way. They are juicy and perfect for my nutritious breakfasts.
Actually I eat breakfast next to one of the fig trees, so I’ve been picking them in the exact moment that I was going to eat them. Perfect timing.
My pottery teacher gave me a cutting from a Peruvian plant called Huacatay. She told me they usually make a spicy sauce with chiles and I instantly searched for it. I made a quick version of it mixing garlic, green chile and huacatay. I link a video of how they actually do it.
Of course, I used one of my new ceramic pieces 🙂
I got some carrots as well, this year I had the patience for them to grow a little bit more. I usually get impatient with carrots and pick them when they are tiny. They are delicious when they are very young, but I wanted to wait this time.
Purple carrots make any dish look so much better. They are just amazing.
I also picked some cucumbers. This variety is different from the one I showed you in my latest post: here’s the link
My parents brought me some seeds from Bhutan a couple of years ago. I waited until I knew I had the time for them to grow and take care of them. I thought this year was perfect for that because I had to stay at home, even if I had to work. At least I could see if they needed water.
They turned out to be extremely crispy and according to my mum, they don’t taste like cucumber that much (something she found was good, because she doesn’t like cucumbers that much)
I love cucumbers, but I liked this variety too, because the crispiness and freshness was very gratifying in a sunny day.
There were some beans, beetroots and other veggies too. This was my best year as a gardener. Next year is going to be incredible! I really like how beautiful and gratifying gardening becomes once you know a thing or two.
I aspire to reach my neighbour’s level…but that takes many years, and I’m not in a hurry.
Even though this post is about August, I’ll talk about September too. I was lucky enough to have two concerts.
The first one was in Vigo. “The Wild” was in alignment with me 100%. It’s in the middle of the woods and a sustainable music festival. People was having fun even if they have to follow all the new rules.
The energy there was very special, even if there was a problem with the electric generator and we had to play 4 songs without any amplification. The night was quite beautiful and we had so much fun.
Lolo, a very nice young man serving pizzas became our best ally. He makes pizzas with food that only have natural ingredients in their list. I asked for vegetable, caprese and four cheeses. We had pizza for lunch and dinner. Yes, they were that good.
And finally, on the 11th, the same day that our new song was released we performed in “Singing in the cave”. Literally, the concert was what the title says. We were inside a cave (Coves de Sant Josep) which is a subterranean river that you can visit in a canoe. The place was magical. For a moment I thought I was alone singing and nobody was there. It was a beautiful and different way to connect with nature.
And that’s my very summarized summary of the month of August and a bit of September.
I hope you enjoy the playlist and I really wish your Summer was fun, calm or whatever you wanted it to be. As always…have fun and keep fooding 🙂
