April Playlist š§ Stay at home season. Coronavirus, Gratitude & Creativity.
It’s April, at last. Time seems to move slower these days, am I right?
I’ve made a playlist for the month, but as most of you are staying home, maybe only one is too short. What do you do while you listen to playlists? Tell me the activity you usually do when you listen to music and I can make a personalized playlist especially for the quarantine.
I usually work on light stuff while I listen, so I love a mixture of upbeat and slow songs. But if, for instance, you workout while you listen…you’ll probably need a different type of music. Let me know and I’ll make another one for the month of April š
I’ve said in a previous post that gratitude is my state of mind. Well, it is. Coronavirus has left the world inside their homes when it is Spring and we all want to go out. Sucks, I know. And many would say…at least we are ok at our homes. And those who say that aren’t wrong. We are incredibly lucky if we can stay at home. Others can’t. Others don’t even have a home the rest of the year.
But, you know, that’s not my mindset either. It’s not that you need to be grateful because there’s people in worse situations than you. There will always be people in worse situations, even for those who are in a worse situation than you are. What I am trying to say here is that we need to be grateful on our own and not compared to others.
Why do I feel this is so important? Well, our main problem as a species is that we are comparing ourselves to each other and that can lead to a sense of lack. I love comparing myself to others when I am learning.
It’s important in order to become better in one way or another to even compare yourself with your older version. The real problem is when we compare ourselves and feel bad about who we are right now.
For instance, when we are sick…we feel awful because we compare ourselves with the healthy version of ourselves. That is not fair! Of course we’re going to feel better when we are healthier, but there’s no reason to stop being grateful.
Eating sweet potatoes, watching youtube videos in bed and using my headphones so Cocotte keeps dreaming š A cold needs to rest in bed, and maybe the cold needs cats surrounding it š¤
So, why am I telling you all this? Because I’ve had a cold for a couple of weeks, then allergies and meanwhile the world started a quarantine. And you know what? I didn’t even care when it started. I was so freaking tired, on my bed with two (reusable) bottles of water on my nightstand and three cats giving me all the love they could.
Life is going to suck at times (many many times). But the way you respond to those moments is what makes your life how it is. Of course, don’t fake what you feel. If you aren’t like me right now, it’s OK, not everyone has such levels of optimism in their blood.
The thing is, start slowly. Write down what are you grateful for today before you go to sleep. You can do it in your phone, although I would say there’s something about the written word in a paper that makes everything more important.
Some days, especially now that we don’t socialize too much (in person), you will write “I got up and cooked some veggies” and that’s ok. The thing is, if you find just one thing to be grateful for every day, your day was worth it. And, even in my worst days, I can always write three things I am grateful for.
Don’t let this whole Coronavirus thing destroy your joy. Staying at home is an incredible excuse for sparking your creativity.
Do as I did this month: paint, write, meditate, sing, knit, cook (a lot) dance, exercise, move, talk to your friends and family or whoever you want to talk to, even strangers (but do it on your phone, now it’s the time to use your phone for everything and not be judged š
) Make plans for when it all ends and think ways you can improve your life.
Don’t let this be something that happened, make it something that changed you for the better.
Isolation often leads to self-discovery and that is something to treasure.
Remember to let me know about the activities you do while you listen to music! What have you been doing during the quarantine? How are you feeling?

I love crumpets and yours looks delicious. I havenĀ“t eaten them since I was in London long time ago. Could we have the recipe? :-))
BTW, I love your playlists too. I mostly listen to classical music for studying, but I like to play some other music when I am with my little girl. She loves dancing any type of music š
Stay safe!!
Yeah! Crumpets are something that reminds me of London too. I still need to perfect the recipe to make it 100% easy and good.
I also listen to classical music, Tchaikovsky is my favourite, so I might make a playlist for that! Hope you and the little one are OK at home. Sending you both love š
Thanks for your reply šš
Looking forward to your perfect recipe then š
